ChartBar Explained | Team Cat or Team Dog? Pet Dogs vs Cats by City in Taiwan

Adapted from a 2022 ChartBar Instagram post (290 likes, 66 saves, 31 comments).

Key findings

• In all 19 cities and counties shown, pet dogs outnumber pet cats.
• Taoyuan has the widest gap: 61,046 more dogs than cats, followed by New Taipei (41,565), Taichung (39,425) and Pingtung (38,644).
• Keelung has the narrowest gap: just 760.

Note: the chart shows the difference (dogs minus cats), not total pets — a larger gap can simply reflect a larger population.
